Em 1952 e 1956, Kefauver competiu com Adlai Stevenson, para ser o candidato a Presidente dos EUA, pelos Democratas. Adlai Stevenson, que Alceu elogiou v\u00e1rias vezes, quando este nos EUA, venceu Kefauver.
